Danish-born artist Karin Holdegaard takes a modernist approach to abstract paintings and creates a layered, multi-dimensional work of art that is tactile, colorful and beautifully composed. These perspectives that are so prevalent in her art can be partly attributed to her childhood. She immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of nine and had to quickly learn English and a new way of being.
After over a decade as a critically acclaimed jewelry designer, Karin launched into another artistic venture as a contemporary/abstract artist. Her years of experience working with metals, resins, plastics and semi-precious stones had given her an extraordinary knowledge of color, texture and depth – three qualities that were to make her paintings unique.
Karin's art has been showing in galleries in Costa Rica and has also been sold privately to many private collectors in Europe, Canada, the United States and Central America.
